The crash

The Comet aircraft overran the Dakar runway on landing at 06:00 LT, crossed a sandy culvert and came to rest on its belly short after the runway end.
The plane which was new had only been in service for a few weeks. According to the limited reports about the crash there was no fire involved in the crash. But the plane was considered as damaged beyond repair.
No crash reports or more detailed information about this crash is known to me.

The mail

This crash is not mentioned in the handbook “Air Crash Mail of the World”. And no mail recovered from this crash is known. Even if the plane was a total loss, there are no records of fire involved.
So the cover which I show below is a great mystery, and I can´t come up with a better theory.

A.
French handstamp
Black.

This handstamp was used on crashmail handled by the French authorities in Paris. According to the air crash handbook it is known on mail from crashes 1956-11-23 to 1973-07-11.
