The crash
When the plane started the night approach to the runway at Fornebu, the visibility was limited due to dark and fog. The plane descended too low and off course, and at 16:34 it struck some tree tops and crashed in flames in a dense wooded area located 16 km west of the airport. The plane was totally destroyed in the crash.
The mail
The accident report mentioned that mail was loaded on board in Ålesund. According to local newspapers it was around 90 kg of mail.
As no mail has so far been recorded, it is most likely that all mail burned up in the wreckage in the fierce fire that broke out.
